Data protection guidelines

dns-me respects the privacy of anybody who visits or uses the dns-me service. Below we would like to inform you about what data dns-me collects and how it is used. We should also like to inform you particularly that we ask you for personal data and this is stored electronically. Your customer data is stored and further processed by us in compliance with the relevant provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act (BDG) and the Telemedia Act (TMG). Your personal data is only collected for specified, unequivocal, lawful purposes and is not stored for anybody any longer than necessary.

Collecting non-personal data
You can visit our website without having to give any personal details. We only save your access data without personal references, such as the browser type/ version, the operating system used, URL references (the page visited), host name of the computer being used for access (IP address; time of the server query. This data is only evaluated to improve our services and does not enable us to determine your identity.

Personal data
We record personal data, such as address data, in machine readable form if you give this to us voluntarily when registering for our dns-me Service. We process the data you give us only in order to fulfil and process your order and for purposes for using dns-me, to advise our customers, for advertising and market research for our own purposes and to design our services according to requirements. When the contract has been completed and full payment received your data will be blocked for further use and deleted by us after existing time periods imposed on us by tax and commercial law obligations have expired unless you have expressly approved the continuing use of your data.

System data
The user's system data will be recorded in dns-me and further processed and also forwarded in anonymised form in order to enable and illustrate regional yield comparisons publicly, for example. Users also have the option to make their system data with personal attributes visible to all users.

Forwarding personal data to third parties
Your personal data is only passed on or otherwise imparted to third parties if this is necessary for the purposes of fulfilling the contract, especially the passing on of order data to suppliers or if you have previously expressly given your consent. In these cases the amount of data transferred is, however, restricted to the required minimum. You have the right to revoke any consent to pass on your data at any time with effect from a date in the future. Your data is only passed on to other people if there is a legal obligation to do this. This applies to authorities, for example. In addition we will never pass on your personal data to third parties for commercial or non commercial purposes. Payments will be made by Sprite or PayPal. In this event your data will be passed on to them. During the payment procedure you will be directed to PayPal's website. You will only enter your confidential data on the payment supplier's page. Cookies
We use what are called cookies in several places on our web site and our dns-me Apps. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and that your browser saves on your computer. They are used to make our services more user-friendly, more effective and more secure. Most of the cookies we use are what are called session cookies. These are automatically deleted from your computer after the end of your session on our website. Other cookies remain on your hard disk and enable us to offer particular user-friendly services, such as greeting you by your user name, access to specific customer areas without having to enter the password again or pre-filling forms. Cookies do not damage your computer and do not contain viruses. If you do not want to accept cookies you can prevent this by a corresponding setting on your Internet browser.

We use Google analytics, a Google Inc. (Google) web analysis service. Google Analytics uses cookies, text files which are saved on your computer and enable your use of the website to be analysed. The information compiled by the cookie regarding your use of this website (including your IP address) is transferred to one of Google's servers in the USA and stored there. Google will use this information to analyse your use of the website, to compile reports on website activities for the website operator and to provide services connected with the use of the website and the Internet. Google may also pass on this information to third parties if this is legally prescribed or if third parties process this data for Google. The personal data will be deleted when you withdraw your consent to saving it, if knowledge of this is no longer necessary to meet the purpose of saving it or if saving it is not permissible for other legal reasons.
